In the book series, the Guardians of Childhood, it was revealed that Pitch had once been a hero of the Golden Age, an ancient time when Constellations ruled the universe. His name in those days was General Kozmotis Pitchiner, and he had led the Golden Age Armies in capturing the Fearlings and Dream Pirates who plagued that era.

He had the duty then to keep the creatures of darkness confined in the prisons never to be set free into the world keeping the Guardians and everyone else safe. But as years passed he wavered. He just wanted to see his daughter, he carried a locket with a picture of her on his being at all times and glanced at it all the time when feeling pushed to his limits.

One day, the Fearlings played a trick on him after slowly draining him of the stoic man he once was. They mimicked his daughter asking for her father to help her escape the darkness, that she was scared, that he should open the door. Pitchner went into a trance and opened the door for them knowing his daughter wasn’t there. When they escaped, they devoured the general’s soul becoming a part of him, and from that moment on he hungered for the dreams of innocent children and was known simply as “Pitch.” He was determined to drain the good from dreams until they became nightmares—every last one of them—so that the children of Earth and then other worlds would live in terror. The Fearlings literally becoming a part of him made him go insane and forget everything about who he was before. He doesn’t recall his daughter, or the prison, or keeping everyone safe. All he knows is fear.

Dear Tumblrs if you can you spare £2, £3.. (or $2, €3, ¥元₪₩฿ whichever!) for your good deed today, please help Jenson!

The following is a message I received from my sister-in-law this morning:

Jenson, the son of one of my school friends, is just a few days younger than [my daughter] Rosie. He has cerebal palsy, the kind which affects one side of his body. His family needs to raise a whopping £55,000 to take him to America for surgery that is not available in the UK. This surgery (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) would remove all the spasticity in Jensons right leg and enable him to walk without having to wear leg splints, have botox injections or endure intensive physiotherapy for the rest of his life.

His family has so far raised £25,000 but with a deadline of March (he has a surgery date of March 28th) they need more, and they need it soon.

This is a cause close to my heart - Jenson is the same age as Rosie, almost to the day. He has also just started school but doesn’t enjoy it the way Rosie does because his condition means he is different from the other children and cannot join in with them. If it was Rosie, I would move heaven and earth to get her that surgery, which is exactly what Katie is doing. She is putting every ounce of energy she has into raising funds for the surgery.

If this will be your good deed for the day you can sponsor my sister-in-law’s efforts to raise money or go straight to the Jenson’s Journey fundraising page.

Thanks for taking the time to read! :)

I don’t reblog donation pages very often but this is close to home. This is the surgery Holland had and it has done wonders for him. He is even able to walk short distances on his own. I saw the struggles my cousin went through before surgery, taking him to several doctors, getting painful botox shots in his legs, braces that weren’t working, intensive physical therapy. After surgery is a completely different story. He still has therapy and braces but he can walk without a walker and is getting better all the time. I hope this little boy has the same chance for hope. Donate if you can (I am), and spread the word if you can’t.

£150 for Jenson so far, his mum has this message for you: Hello, my name is Katie and I am Jenson’s mum. Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this, we are very grateful and thank you to the donors who have given generously as a result xxx thank you. Please feel free to look us up on facebook group jensons journey and we have a facebook page. [here] You can track our progress on events x thank you again x
